Post-Match Frustration for Pakistan's Coach

Mike Hesson, the head coach of Pakistan, showed clear signs of frustration following the Asia Cup 2025 match against India, where the Indian players opted out of the traditional post-match handshake. This encounter occurred on Sunday, September 14, with India achieving a convincing seven-wicket victory while chasing a modest target of 128 runs.

After the match concluded, players Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube headed straight to the dressing room, neglecting to acknowledge their Pakistani counterparts. Despite the presence of Pakistan's captain Salman Agha and coach Hesson waiting nearby, the Indian team did not engage in the customary handshake.

During the post-match press conference, Hesson remarked that the Pakistani team was prepared for the handshake but decided to leave when it became apparent that no Indian players were coming forward to reciprocate.

He stated, 'We were ready to shake hands at the end of the game. It was disappointing that our opponents did not reciprocate. We approached them, but they had already retreated to their changing room.'

Hesson further expressed his disappointment, saying, 'It was an unsatisfactory way for the match to conclude. While we were not pleased with our performance, we were certainly willing to extend a handshake.'
